Edward Fagan served 26 years in the U.S. Navy; entered into service on July 4, 1945, commissioned as an Ensign December 1, 1950, served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and served on the USS Coral Sea. He received Air Medals (4), Navy Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2), American Theater Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Medal, European Occupation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious United.He also received a Citation-Vietnam Service (4Stars).Ed had a charismatic personality and was one to make life happen. Ed's first love have always been flying, first as a career naval aviator and then in retirement. He loved recreational flying with his companions, John Stewart, Dale Gano, and Oliver Hall and was a member of Experimental Aviators Association Chapter 485 Pensacola, FL.When not in Pensacola, FL he loved to spend time in Lisbon, NH and the White Mountains. Ed was an avid reader, movie watcher and enjoyed the theater. Among many hobbies he enjoyed woodworking, boat building, geology, photography and attending any airshow he could find.He lived a full life to its fullest. He is loved and will be missed and fondly remembered by all of his family and friends.He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Wadzuk of New Haven, CT; father, James Walter Fagan of New Haven, CT; brothers, Walter Fagan and Christopher Fagan of West Haven, CT and a niece, Cathy Fagan Hardy of Houston, TX.He is survived by his sister, Catherine Fagan of Northford, CT; nephews, Douglas Clark of Wallingford, CT and Michael Fagan of West Haven, CT; nieces, Eileen Fagan of West Haven, CT, Betty Anne Fagan Acampora of East Haven, CT and Margaret Fagan Celone of Arlington, TX.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2014 at Barrancas National Cemetery with Full Military honors.FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Pkwy, entrusted with arrangements.
