Obituary of Donald Day

DAY, Donald Henry May 1947 - November 1, 2016 It is with broken hearts that we inform you of the passing of Donald Day. He died peacefully at his home in Sooke, B.C. surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Rosanne who loved him with her whole heart and he always made her feel loved and secure. His children Paula Eves and Robert Day who he loved unconditionally with everything he had. His granddaughters Chelisa Eves, Hannah Day and Hailey Day who made Don''s heart so happy and full of love. His sister and brother-in-law Janet and Ken Noel who he loved and were mainstays of support in his life. In-laws Dawn Calhoun, Denise Sky, David and Kristina Calhoun and Keith Calhoun. Nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces, Ronnie Gallie, Jake, Kimberlee and Amelia Reimer, Emir, Marie and Scarlet Sky, Adrianna, Jack and Duke Teriakidis, Manthos Teriakidis, Donald and Jeffery Calhoun. His fur babies Bandette and Oreo. His very well loved amazing friends and colleagues. He is pre-deceased by his father and mother Reginald and Irene Day who taught him love and instilled in him a stellar work ethic. Don started working at 12 years old and never stopped. He was a boilermaker by trade but went way beyond that. He was lucky to work at the Dockyard where he obtained a great wealth of knowledge from his coworkers. He also worked at Webb and Trace and was so appreciative of the opportunities he had there. He worked at GR Research and Development, D & G Repairs and his own rewarding business Day''s Welding & Fabricating. He worked because he loved his family. Some of his happiest times were working with his son Robert who took over the business and Don could not have been prouder. His spirit will also live on in the many people with whom he taught and shared his talents. His family and work along with, tools, woodworking, workshops and his Fords, especially his little blue truck, brought him the most enjoyment from life. One could not get the smile off his face if he was in his truck headed to garage sales or a hardware store on the hunt for tools. There will be a celebration of Don''s life in May 2017 with more information to follow.
