Obituary of Dean Wheeler

Mr. Dean Wheeler Forestport Mr Dean Wheeler, 84, of Forestport, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at his home. Dean was born in Utica, November 8, 1925, a son of the late Dean and Marie (Cantelmo) Wheeler. After high school, Dean served his country in the United States Navy during WW II. Upon his return, Dean married Phyllis Owen on June 24, 1945, a union that lasted for over 43 years, until her death in 1989. He later married Anna Figiel on February 14, 1999. Dean was a sheet metal worker and worked in various local shops throughout his career. After he retired, he moved to Forestport and built his home, a labor of love that sustained him for the rest of his life. He loved creating things with his hands. He is survived by his wife, Anna Wheeler, of Forestport; son, Trevor Wheeler and his wife, Jacque, of New Hartford; daughter, Andrea Branagan and her husband, William, of Weedsport; six grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Annas five children and their families, who he thought of as his own. He was predeceased by three infant children; his daughter, Cynde Ferguson; and a brother, Stuart Wheeler. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, New Hartford.
