Obituary of Daniel-Carl Jackson

Daniel "Danny" Carl Jackson, 70, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011.He was born Aug. 19, 1941, in Walton County, Fla., to Therman Jackson and Ilea Adkison Jackson. Mr. Jackson lived most of his life in Walton County except for 25 years that he lived in Mississippi. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lion's Club for 12 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also coached girls' softball teams for eight years.Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father, Therman Jackson; mother, Ilea Adkison Brannon; one brother, Ronnie Brannon; and one sister, Janice Smith. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 48 years, Myrtis Jackson of DeFuniak Springs; one son, James Fillingim and wife, Sandra, of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; four daughters, Faye Terrell and husband, Ronnie, of Gautier, Miss., Annette Spiriti and husband, Tim, of Hurley, Miss., Linda Frazier and husband, Patrick, of DeFuniak Springs, and Brenda Johnson and husband, Paul, of Moss Point, Miss.; five brothers, Frank Brannon, Rex Brannon, Roger Brannon, John Davis and Kenneth Jackson; and three sisters, Vera Dale Edwards, Teresa Merritt and Kay Darden. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildrenA time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs.Funeral services will held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil McMillian and Dr. James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
