Obituary of Claude Wilson

Claude Thomas Wilson, 64, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007, after a brief, courageous battle with leukemia. Claude was born November 2, 1943, in Shelby, North Carolina, to the late Paul and Isabel Williams Wilson. He was a 1967 graduate of Furman University, where he later received his Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology. He was a faithful fan of the Paladins and enjoyed football and basketball games on the beautiful Furman campus.Claude served as Director of the Children's Program at Marshall I. Pickens Hospital for twelve years and as Director of the Greenville County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse for seventeen years. At the time of his death, he was employed by the School District of Greenville County at Greenville Middle Academy.Claude was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was currently serving as a member of the Session and appreciated his role as a Stephen Minister. He also served on many community boards and especially enjoyed his service to the Swim Association Invitational League, Compass of Carolina and Rosewood.Survivors are his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Brunson Wilson; daughters, Kathryn Millican and her husband, Jim, of Raleigh, N.C., and Cameron Bryant and her husband, Jeff, of Richmond, Va.; son, Mac Wilson of Greenville, S.C.; grandson, Angus Millican; and brothers, Donald Wilson and his wife, Harriett, of Shelby, N.C., and Harry Wilson and his wife, Hallie, of Zebulon, N.C.A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 9, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Jenny Lee Easley Lounge at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 107 Westpark Boulevard, Suite 150, Columbia, SC 29210 or to the Stephen Ministry Program of Westminster Presbyterian Church at 2310 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29605.The Cremation Society of South Carolina is assisting the family.
