He was born on January 8, 1948 to Georgia and Austin Wheeler.Charles was preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Catherine Graham.He is survived by his wife, Sue Wheeler; five kids: Rhonda Jean Wheeler who he wrote a letter saying how much he loved her, Terry Smith, Charles Smith, Richard Kennedy and Teresa Porter; along with 13 grandkids: Austin Smith, Ronnie Lowe, Jenson Porter, Gage Smith, Chance Porter, Danny Kennedy, Rhett Porter, McKenzie Smith, Abigail Kennedy, Madison Smith, Timber Porter, Dakoda Smith and Aiden Smith; brothers and sisters: Carolyn Wheeler, Cecil Wheeler, Clarence Wheeler, Charlotte Reynolds, Claudine Holeman and Chester Wheeler.He served proudly in the United States Army, Big Red One 1st Infantry. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a custodian for Springfield public schools for 11 years. Charles loved sports, fishing, and his three dogs: Lucky, Kitty Kitty, and Pie.Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Services will be Friday, August 22 at 8:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
