FLAT ROCK, N.C. -- U.S. Air Force Major (Ret.) Charles Bernard Sullivan, 82, of Hudson, N.H., died Dec. 3, 2010, from Alzheimer's related causes at The Elizabeth House.He was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Wilmington, Mass, to Augustine and Miriam Sullivan. He earned all-state honors in football at Wilmington High School in 1947.He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He ultimately earned his command pilot wings before retiring to Hudson. N.H., in 1970.He then completed a second career with Nashua Corporation from 1970 to 1990, working as an engineer in the paper chemical processing plant and later as a security sentry.He was an avid skier and motorcycle rider for many years, and always enjoyed following the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots. He was a dedicated Roman Catholic.Family members include two daughters, Laura Larson of Asheville and Teresa Kelly of Fayetteville, Ga.; three sons, Charles Sullivan Jr. of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., Timothy Sullivan of Derry, N.H. and William Sullivan of Honolulu; a sister, Beatrice Barry of Wilmington, Mass.; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was apredeceased by his wife, Constance (Tyrrell) Sullivam; and a son, James Sullivan.SERVICES: A viewing will be held at Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock, Va., Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be a funeral Mass at Old Post Chapel, Ft. Meyer, Va., and a graveside service at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C., at a later date.Donations may be made to James A.
