Obituary of Catherine-Catherine-Crawford-Jordan Jordan

JORDAN, Catherine Catherine Crawford Jordan died peacefully August 14, 2014, at Harbour Grace Hospice following a long illness. She was 95. Born March 1919 in Henry County to Ola Rawls Crawford and Odell Crawford, Catherine Josephine Crawford came to The Big City as a teenager, attending Joe Brown High School. At the age of 16 she met Roger Jordan, and after a six-month courtship they were married in 1936. Her mother predicted the marriage would be as brief as the courtship. It lasted 63 years, until Roger passed away in 1999. In 1943, Cat and Roger founded the automotive repair shop in Little Five Points that bears his name, now in its 71st year, under management of a third generation of Jordans. She was the beloved "Gran" to her grandchildren and scores of their friends, for whom she always had a sympathetic ear and shoulder. She was revered for her kindness, her generosity, her empathy and her moral compass. She is survived by three sons: Kenneth, William (Diane) and Donald; her sister, Rebecca Luttrell; three grandsons: Neil (Kimberly), Todd (Heather) and Matthew; a granddaughter, Virginia Maze (Andrew); a great-grandaughter, Vivian Jordan; and an "honorary grandson," Graem Kinsella. A memorial service will be held at a date and location to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to People for the American Way or the Wounded Warrior Project.
