Obituary of Carroll-Sumner Anderson


Carroll Sumner Anderson, 88, Sarasota, died Feb. 7, 2004. He was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Mercer, Pa., and came to Sarasota 31 years ago from Dearborn, Mich. He retired in 1978 as vice chairman of the board of Ellis Banks. He graduated from Westminster College in Pennsylvania and was a member of Bird Key Yacht Club and Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was a Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Shirley (Houser); daughters Christine E. Borup and Amy L. Pierce; sons Stephen C., William B., and Thomas R.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be later. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238; or to The Salvation Army, 1701 S. Tuttle Ave., Sarasota, FL 34239.
