GLOUCESTER, Mass. -- Carroll "Andy" Anderson, 81, died June 2, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born June 6, 1927, in Gloucester, Mass., to Augustus and Emma Anderson. He graduated from Wentworth Institute after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for manufacturing companies in Massachusetts and was last employed at Gloucester Engineering until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, fishing and being with his family and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Genevieve Anderson, and by seven siblings. IN HIS LIFE: Family members include three sons and their wives, Thomas Anderson and Shirley Yoshida of Cincinnati, Ohio, Phillip and Priscilla Anderson of Manchester, N.H., and Richard and Mary Ann Anderson of Hampton, N.H.; a daughter and partner, Linda Anderson and Duke Marston of Hope, Maine; six grandchildren, Eric Anderson, Adam Anderson, Hannah Anderson, Derek Drechsler, Jeffrey Anderson, and Abigail Anderson; two sisters, Shirley Dennen of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Ruth Rapp of Rockport. SERVICES: A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, at The Gloucester House Restaurant, 63 Rogers St., Gloucester, from 2 to 4 p.m. His wishes to be cremated and his ashes scattered at sea off Halibut Point, Gloucester, will be fulfilled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road SW, Suite 202C, Liburn, Ga. 30047. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire assisted with arrangements.
