Obituary of Caroline Davis


<!-- FH = The Wood Mortuary, Inc. --><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Caroline Westmoreland DavisGreerCaroline Westmoreland Davis, affectionately known by her family as "Toot," passed away on September 2, 2014 at age 94. Caroline was born on February 28, 1920 in Woodruff, SC. She graduated from Medical University of South Carolina with a degree in nursing. She and her family moved to Greer, SC in 1948, and she worked as a nurse helping numerous people at Allen Bennett Hospital. She was a devoted wife and mother. She served as Chairman of the Spartanburg School of Deaf and Blind and as a Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed the Greer Garden Club and painting for family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends in Mt. Pleasant. Earlier in life she enjoyed going on camping trips, traveling in her RV to Clemson football games, and even riding motorcycles. She will be remembered as loving, witty, humble, and unpretentious. She is survived by her son, Dr. Lewis Marion Davis, Jr. of Atlanta, her niece, Anne Norman Stedman of Charlotte, her nephew, John D. Westmoreland of Spartanburg and his wife, Brenda, her grand-nephew John B. Stedman, Jr. of Charlotte, his wife, Julie and their children, Jacqueline and Liza and her grand-nephew, David Norman Stedman of Charlotte, his wife, Caroline and their children, Isabel, Anne Gray and Branch. She was predeceased by her mother, Lyda Anne Darwin Chamblin, her father, Coke Feamer Westmoreland, her husband, Dr. Lewis Marion Davis, her daughter, Patricia Ann Davis, her step sister, Anne Dean Norman, and her brother, James Butler Westmoreland. The family would like to give special thanks to Christy and David Cohen, devoted caregivers and friends.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 100 School Street, Greer, SC 29651. Friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Wood Memorial Park Cemetery in Duncan, SC following the memorial service. The family respectfully request that flowers be omitted and memorials be given to First Presbyterian Church in Greer, 100 School Street, Greer, SC 29651.Online condolences may be made at www.thewoodmortuary.com
