Obituary of Carol Williams


CAROL WOWCHUK It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of our beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, Carol Wowchuk, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. She was born Jan. 4, 1942 in Brandon, Man. to the late Fred and Lillian (Bahr) Williams. She attended school in Fort Frances, Ont., and later graduated from Success Business College in Winnipeg, Man. Carol worked as a legal secretary for 30 years until her recent retirement from Lawrence A. Eustace Law Office following 23 years of service. Carol enjoyed many hobbies, including making crafts, sewing, gardening, cooking, and listening to music. Her favourite time was spent at the cabin, where she liked boating, swimming, and visiting with family and friends. Carol was a beautiful, extraordinary wife, sister, and especially mother, and will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her infant sister, Nan. Carol is survived by her husband of 33 years, Metro (Svet) Wowchuk; children, Gerry Stratton (Alma) of Fort Frances, Ont., Sue-Ann Rudaitis (Algis) of Mississauga, Ont., and Tara Lynn Wowchuk of Fort Frances, Ont.; and stepsons, Scott Skifstrom (Toni) of International Falls, Mn. and Randy Skifstrom (Dawn) of Coon Rapids, Mn. Also surviving are her sister, Susan (George) Flint of St. Leonard, Md.; three grandchildren, Lukas Rudaitis, Colin Angus, and Nikki Skifstrom; two aunts and an uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 15, 2003 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Fr. Rey Ronquillo will officiate, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances. Friends may visit Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Joe Johnson, Ray Cousineau, Ross Keeler, Walter Wowchuk, Scott Skifstrom, Peter Fylkow, and William Wowchuk. Honourary pallbearers will be Debbie Alexander, Helen Cousineau, Jacqui Csik, Alexis Norris, and Lindsay Payne. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, P.O. Box 444, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
