Carlene Thomas, 72, passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of Covenant Hospice. She was a lifetime resident of Pensacola, FL until moving to Pace, FL four years ago. Carlene was baptized at East Hill Baptist Church and later became a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she enjoyed fellowship for many years. After moving to Pace, she attended Wallace Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl E. and Leona Davenport Thomas, and brothers, Ronald E. and Allen R. Thomas.She is survived by her brother, Don and his wife, Brenda, of Pace; sister-in-law, Nancy Thomas of Navarre; nephews, Lynn, Jeff (Sandra), Greg, Ben (Kerry), Daniel and Jon Thomas; grand-nephews, Kevin, Brian, Caleb, Chris and Carter Thomas; grand-nieces, Kristen, Ryan and Erin Thomas.Carlene, a graduate of PHS, "Class of '55," worked at Leona's Dress Shop before her 27 year career at the Pensacola Police Dept. She loved her work as a dispatcher and developed many friends over the years.Carlene expressed her appreciation for the visits from Father Harry Hill of Christ Church and Brother Andy Martin, Pastor of Wallace Baptist Church, during her illness.The family wishes to express appreciation to Covenant Hospice for their thoughtfulness, dedication and loving care.At Carlene's request, there will be no funeral services. She requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, Wallace Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
