Mr. Billy Daniel Sims, 75, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at his home. He was born March 9, 1938, in Jefferson. He was the son of the late Barnwell Sims and Frances Angeline Eason Sims and was the husband of Doris Ann Stevens Sims. Mr. Sims retired from Springs Industries and worked for Lancaster County Recycling Center at Rich Hill, was a Mason with Camp Creek Masonic Lodge No. 317, served our great country in the U.S. National Guard and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Mr. Sims loved working in his garden, camping with his family, his two dogs, Precious and Benji, and loved and treasured all of his grandchildren.Mr. Sims is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doris Ann Stevens Sims of the home, his daughters, Teresa Funderburk and her husband, Charles of Lancaster, Tammie Mozingo and her husband, Chief Master Sergeant Christopher A. Mozingo of Kathleen, Ga., and Brenda Moseley and her husband, Terry of Lancaster; and his grandchildren, Ashley and Kimberly Funderburk, Alex, Andrew, Adin and Addison Mozingo, Justin Moseley and his wife, Samantha, and Hannah Moseley.Mr. Sims was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Raymond Sims, and a sister, Betty Jo Pressley.The celebration of life funeral service for Mr. Sims is 11 a.m. today, June 12, 2013, at Eastside Baptist Church by the Revs. Scott Lewellen, Curtis Cameron and Steve Neal. Burial with masonic rites will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The family of Mr. Sims received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Hartley Burgess Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to Eastside Baptist Church, Senior Adult Fund, 1180 Garnette Road, Lancaster SC 29720.
