Obituary of Beatrice-Jane Wheeler

Wheeler, Beatrice Jane RENSSELAER Beatrice Jane Wheeler, 90, passed away on Tuesday March 11, 2014 at Van Rensselaer Manor. Born in Stephentown, Jane grew up in the house in which her mother, grandfather, and several of the Briggs generations were born. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice Briggs Wheeler. A lifelong area resident, Jane spent most of her life in Rensselaer. She retired many years ago as a secretary for the NYS Department of Health. She enjoyed her volunteer work at the former Child's hospital in Albany and Meals on Wheels. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed. Survivors include her three sisters, Elizabeth Hughes of New Hartford, Mary Locke of Fabius, N.Y. and Doris Stone of Chatham, N.J.; her sister-in-law Lisa Wheeler and seventeen treasured nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Wheeler. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Stephentown Federated Church, 1513 Garfield Road, Stephentown. Interment to follow in the Stephentown Cemetery. Afterwards, friends and family are welcome at the farm to visit and have refreshments. There will be no calling hours.
