Obituary of Barbara-Watkins Anderson

Hinesville - Barbara Watkins Anderson, 69, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at her residence under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born in Wilkinson County, Georgia, April 15, 1933, Barbara moved with her family to Hinesville in 1946. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hinesville, where she answered many calls to service and was a member of the Bertha Martin Circle. Though she worked several years as a bookkeeper for Hinesville Ford, and a Civil Defense Director, she is remembered most as a loving homemaker who found her greatest joy in tending to her family and friends. She loved to be outside, working in her flowers, making her yard and home inviting to everyone. She is preceded in death by her husband, Guy W. Anderson; her parents, Nathaniel and Ollie Watkins; her brother, Curt Watkins; and brothers-in-law, John T. Cope, Jr., and David Seckinger. Survivors: her children, Joe and Judy Anderson, Andy and Diane Anderson, and Jill Anderson, all of Hinesville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Norma Cope of Auburn, AL, and Rose and Paul Carr of Statesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Lemuel and Liz Watkins of Griffin; her grandchildren, Shelly Taito, Kerry Perkins, and Blake Nuss; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Allen, Kevin and Levi. She was cherished by her many cousins, nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and many kind and loving friends. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13 at Carter Funeral Home, Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, at the First United Methodist Church of Hinesville.
