Obituary of Barbara-S. Wheeler

->HALLOWELL -- Barbara S. Wheeler, 86, of Balsam Drive died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Graybirch Drive, Augusta.She was born in Augusta on June 20, 1922, the daughter of Ernest R. and Gertrude (Plummer) Shaw.Barbara graduated from Cony High School and spent most of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed being with family and friends and always talked about her visits Down East as a child, and later with her husband, John, and son David. Her smile and good nature were inviting. Barbara was a super, super lady and will be missed by all.She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2000.She is survived by a son, David T. Wheeler, of Augusta; friends Rose Hinckley, of Augusta, Leola Russell, of Friendship, and Orland Smith, of Presque Isle; also several cousins, nieces and nephews.There will be no visiting hours. A committal service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, in the chapel at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.The family wishes to thank the staff at Granite Hill Estates; MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta; and MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Graybirch, for the care and compassion given to Barbara.
