Obituary of Barbara Anderson


Barbara Anderson 1928 - 2009 BRATTLEBORO Barbara May Anderson, 81, of Central Street, a resident of Brattleboro since 1976, died Wednesday night, July 8, at the Thompson House on Maple Street. Mrs. Anderson was born in North Adams, Mass., on April 23, 1928, daughter of Everett and Evelyn Townsend Kelley. She was raised and educated in Deerfield, Mass., graduating from Deerfield High School. Prior to moving to Brattleboro she resided in Greenfield. While in Greenfield she had worked as a sales associate at the former McClellan's Department Store on Main Street. She was also a devoted wife who took great pride in her home which she enjoyed. In her leisure time she enjoyed crossword puzzles and her pet poodle "Kelli." For many years she was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine. On Sept. 8, 1978, in Sunderland, Mass., she was married to Francis Anderson who predeceased her in November of 2006. She leaves her step-son, Edward Anderson and wife Christine of Brattleboro, two granddaughters, Michelle Anderson of Moosup, Conn., and Gloria Anderson of Brattleboro, cousins, Richard and Betsy Kelley of Lee, Mass., and Sandy Cook of Winchester, N.H. Additionally she leaves her close personal friend Arlene Slate of Brattleboro. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Morningside Cemetery with Walter Roberts, officiating. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Anderson's name may be made to; Shriners Children's Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
