<!-- FH = Asheville Mortuary Services -->BETTY JOHNSONASHEVILLE - Betty Johnson (Mary Elizabeth Schott Johnson) was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 7, 1915. She died on April 21, 2013, still enjoying life at the age of 97 in Asheville, NC. She loved her two girls and their husbands: Judy and Henry McKay of Asheville, NC and Caryl and Julio Quinones of Chico, CA.; her grandchildren: Elizabeth McKay Gilbert (Robert), Frank McKay (Sonja), Franklin Quinones-Schott (Christina), Julio Quinones (Cindy) Molly Quinones(Scott) and L.J. Quinones (Sandy); and her beloved great grandchildren: Brandon Lavis (Quinones-Schott), Ayden Quinones, Alexandria Gilbert, Gabriel Quinones, Annika McKay, Iona Rose Gilbert. In 1938 Betty married Franklin Schott who became a Lutheran pastor. Together they served God in parishes in Pennsylvania, Arizona and California. Franklin died in 1979. Later she married Hal Johnson. Betty enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved the sea with a passion, enjoyed traveling, camping, music, poetry, and reading. Most of all she enjoyed her family, in whose hearts she will live on and who will miss her dearly.A celebration of Betty's life will be held, Sunday, April 28, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 10 N. Liberty St., Asheville, NC. Memorials may be made to Lutheridge Camp & Conference Center in her name and mailed to 28 Spruce Drive, Arden, NC 28704.
