Obituary of Anne-B. Jackson


Jackson, Anne B.Dec. 9, 1923 - Jun. 23, 2013Anne Jackson was born December 9, 1923 in Ridgeway, SC. to the late David and Gertrude Belton. Mrs. Jackson passed away peacefully June 23, 2013. Anne became a nurse in 1945 and joined the United States Army and became a 2nd Lieutenant at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin. After her discharge she went back to college to earn her B.S. in Nursing Administration in 1954 and then continued to earn her M.A. in Nursing Education Teaching in 1959. Then Mrs. Jackson earned her M.S. in Nursing to complete her education. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the National Legislative Council for AARP. She was a Consumer Representative for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization where she assisted in the development of medication indicators. She was also a commissioner on the Physician Payment Review Commission. Mrs. Jackson was also a Moderator for the Women's Group of the Northminister Presbyterian Church and a volunteer literacy tutor. Mrs. Jackson was a Professor at City University of New York in the Department of Nursing for 25 years and has served in the positions of Medical Supervisor, Head Nurse, and Staff Nurse for the Veteran's Administration Hospital. Mrs. Jackson's most recent activity was the completion of a month long trip to Thailand, the Philippines, and the State of California on a Presbyterian Women's Global Exchange called a "Caring Journey." Mrs. Jackson leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Harold; two sons, Duane (Deb), Darryl; step-daughter, Brenda Allen; two grandchildren, Dana and Jeff; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Fair, Virginia Branch and Yvonne Campbell; several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. A visitation will be held at Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL, 34203, Thursday, June 27,2013 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northminister Presbyterian Church, 3131 61st Street, Sarasota, FL, 34243. Mrs. Jackson will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. at Manasota Memorial Park. She had a wonderful life and loved Martha's Vineyard. "You will be missed. We know you are with God. I will always love you!"
