Anna MatthewsHayden Potvin, 23 SCARBOROUGH - Anna Matthews Hayden Potvin, 23, of Broadturn Road died unexpectedly, Monday, Aug. 29, 2005. In her short life, she was surrounded by a loving circle of family and friends, with whom she shared her love and generosity of spirit.Anna will be remembered most fondly as a loving wife and mother. Anna's family and friends enjoyed her wit and great sense of humor. Funny and playful, she was also kind and thoughtful. She loved music and singing and most of all being with her family.The loving daughter of Martin Scholl Hayden and Kim Matthews, Anna was born August 3, 1982 in Seoul, South Korea. She was educated in the Portland School System and graduated in 2001 from Portland High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, co-editor of the school newspaper and a varsity cheerleader.Anna attended Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire and the University of Southern Maine. She enjoyed people and especially children. As a teenager she worked as a babysitter and later as a nanny. Following college, Anna accepted a position with STRIVE, an organization that assists handicapped people. She also worked as a sales representative for The Gap at the Maine Mall and most recently as a customer service representative at the L.L. Bean Call Center in Portland.She is survived by an infant son, Shane Dylan Potvin and her husband Philip G. Potvin, both of Scarborough; her mother and stepfather, Kim Matthews and William Coogan of Westbrook; her father and stepmother, Martin and Anne Hayden of Brunswick; a maternal grandfather, Allan Matthews of Arlington, Va.; three sisters, Margaret and Rosamond Hayden, both of Brunswick, and Sarah Adlerstein of Boulder, Colo.; three brothers, Matthew Coogan of New York City, N.Y., Gabriel Coogan of North Hampton, Mass., and Benjamin Clay of Portland; parents-in-law Nonie and Gerald Potvin of Scarborough; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kristina and Dale Gagne of Waterboro; and niece and nephew, Ashley and Aaron Gagne of Waterboro.Visiting hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. An 11 a.m., Saturday, funeral service will be held at Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church, 524 Allen Ave., Portland.
