Obituary of Allen Pearson

Allen Pearson November 3, 1944-June 6, 2016 Dr. Allen Pearson passed away on Monday June 6 at his residence in London, ON. Originally from Branchville, NJ, Allen is survived by his brother Peter and sister-in-law Betty Pearson of Andover, NJ. Allen was predeceased by his parents George and Jean (Eagleson) Pearson. A graduate of Colgate University and having received his PhD at Cornell University, Allen became a lifelong educator. He was a professor of philosophy of education at the University of Alberta for 25 years until 1995, then served as Dean of Education at the University of Western Ontario until 2007. He continued as a full-time Faculty member until his retirement in 2010, after which he was appointed Professor Emeritus and Adjunct Professor. Allen was also active in the local NDP party, holding the position of treasurer. A memorial service will be held in Allen's honour on Tuesday June 14 at 2pm at St John the Evangelist chapel at Huron College, 1349 Western Road, London, ON. Inquiries can be made to A.
