James Robert "Bobby" Newton, 72, of Manton, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at his residence. He was born April 21, 1942, in Manton. He and his family operated Manton Grocery for more than 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Irvin and Thelma Laura Blanford Newton; a sister, Martha Hamilton; and three brothers, Martin Vannie, Joseph Derlin and Thomas B. "Blank" Newton.Survivors include a brother, John Irvin Newton, of Louisville; and a number of nieces and nephews.Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 6964 Cissellville Road in Manton with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Matt Hardesty will officiate.Visitation is 3-8 Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road in Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
