Thomson is saddened to announce his passing on June 29, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Dad was a member of the Korean Veterans Association of Canada, Nutana Unit #46 in Saskatchewan, a member of the Saskatchewan First Nations Veterans Association. He also had a lifetime membership at the Montmartre Legion. Dad was born June 14, 1927 on the Carry The Kettle First Nation. He was a proud man of many accomplishments in his life. He operated a mixed farm well into his eighties. Dad is survived by Cora, his loving spouse of 64 years; daughters Barbara (Bernie), Tina (Terry), Gwen (Stan), Brenda (Greg), Sheryl, Kim (Denby), Joy (Dave), Lenora (Floyd); fourteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren; brothers Cecil (Kathleen), Ralph (Rhonda); sisters Wilma, Viola (Bob), Bonnie and Sharon; an adopted son Gary Bellegarde; adopted daughters Lynda Francis and Connie Bigeagle; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Birdie; brothers Edwin, Kenneth, Glen, Nelson and Gordon; sisters Thelma and Bessie; a daughter Debra; infant daughter Cora and granddaughter Marcie; great-grandson Michael Scribner; son in law Danny Sornsen. A Celebration of his Life will be conducted with a Wake held at his home on Carry The Kettle First Nation on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. a Funeral Service in the N.O.E.C. School on Carry The Kettle First Nation July 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Vincent Ryder and Pastor Brig Judy officiating. Cremation will follow this Service. The family respectfully requests that no children attend these Services. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Indian Head hospital, Montmartre Health Center, Wolseley Lakeside Home and the Wolseley Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Dad during his brief illness.
