ALTON, William SamuelFebruary 27, 1945 – May 18, 2015Peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2015 Bill passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. Left to remember him and celebrate a life well-lived are his wife Connie; son Christopher; daughter Adrienne (Steve Figliuzzi); brother Bert (Linda); brother-in-law Richard Murray (Kim Allen); sister-in-law Virginia Burnett (Jim Elliott); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father William; mother Muriel; and sister Karen.Bill grew up on a farm outside Austin, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg where he attended the University of Winnipeg. He later moved to Edmonton and eventually settled in St. Albert. Bill worked as a musician and a carpenter, and was very proud of the work he did with, and for, the Alberta Regional Council of Carpenters and Allied Workers.Bill was an archaeologist, musician, singer, songwriter, carpenter and a great debater. He took an avid interest in politics and loved to travel, especially on a good road trip. His intelligence, compassion and beautiful voice will be missed by all who knew him.Friends and family will join in a Celebration of Bill''s Life at a future date. The family is arranging to dedicate a bench in his memory at Buena Vista dog park in Edmonton.
