William Pinson "Bill" Watkins, 51, of 10419 Highway 76 West, Laurens, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Laurens County Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the son of Charles and Nell Tinman. and was predeceased by his father, JL Watkins. He was a retired employee of Laurens Glass Inc. for 27 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, having served in a number of offices in that church. He is survived by his loving companion, Sandra C. Crawford; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Shawn Haines; and a grandson, Hunter Haines. He is also survived by one brother, Samuel Ludie Watkins, and wife, Mary Lee, of Laurens; two nieces, Chad and Beth Watkins Thomas, and Phalen and Sarah Watkins Satterfield; and three great-nieces, Hannah and Morgan Thomas, and Peyton Satterfield. Private burial services will be at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurens, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Jan. 16, 2003; and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., at the church. The family will receive friends tonight, Jan. 15, at The Kennedy Mortuary, from 7 to 8:30. They will also be at the home of Ludie and Mary Lee Watkins, 400 Powderhorn Road, Laurens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lebanon United Methodist Church, 1450 Dunklin Bridge Road, Honea Path, SC 29654; or, to Laurens Memorial Home, P.O. Box 638, Laurens, SC 29360.
