William Norris Appleton, 85, Fulton, Mo., and formerly of Sarasota, died May 8, 2005 at the Fulton Manor Care Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Minneapolis and came to Sarasota in 1973 from California. He retired in 1995 as regional sales representative for Hammond Organs. He was an Army Air Forces captain in World War II flying B-26s in Europe and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. Survivors include a son, William C. of Fulton; daughters Sally Friestad of Ramsey, Minn., and Susan Shkolnik of Vista, Calif.; a stepson, Miles Lacey of Sarasota; a stepdaughter, Jane Hanna of New York; eight grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. Entombment will be in San Diego, Calif. Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, is in charge.
