HAYES, William (Bill) FrederickFebruary 8, 1933 - March 3, 2015Peacefully at home. Son, Brother, Cousin, Husband, Father, Uncle, Engineer, Boat Builder, and Friend. Bill enjoyed a varied career, including employment at AVRO (Toronto), C.A.R.D.E. (Quebec City), Orenda Engines (Toronto), Pratt & Whitney (Longueil), Aviation Electric (Montreal), National Research Council (Ottawa). Our family will be eternally grateful to CCAC and the palliative care medical team, including Drs.: Andrew Mai, Tara Tucker and J Brodeur, RNs: Laurie, Max, Nelson, Bonnie and Elena, and PSWs: D'Nolo, Vanessa and Christine, and many others who contributed to Bill's dream of remaining at home. Bill received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University in 1955, and was awarded an Athlone scholarship to study for two years at the college of aeronautics at Cranfield, England. He earned a diploma in Aeronautical Engineering while gaining summer work experience at Pyestock in Farnbourough. Bill, son of the late John F. and Helen Casselman Hayes, brother of the late Jack Hayes and his wife Marie, brother of Diane and Jack Nicolson, husband of Elizabeth/Liz Harkness/Hayes and their beloved children and grandchildren John, Shirley, and Stephen Hayes/Lichti, Anne, Michael, Mark, and Heather Chartrand, and Beth, Mark, Christopher and Julie Boileau. He enjoyed the company of many nieces and nephews, Harkness, Hayes, Thompson, Nicolson, Houghtling, Seabrook/Harkness, Stromberg and Harkness/Sanders. Friends and family will gather at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) Friday, March 6 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Service will be held in the Chapel, Saturday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Carolyn Seabrook officiating.
