BARNARD William Barnard, age 60, died on Monday, August 15, 2005, at his home in Bridgeport. He was born in Bridgeport, and was an Easton resident for 54 years before returning to Bridgeport six years ago. Mr. Barnard was co-owner of Southport Auto Parts and subsequently worked as an inspector with the Department of Motor Vehicles. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and life member of the National Association of Naval Veterans Port 5 and of the American Legion Post 74. He was a life member of National Rifle Association and a former Easton special police officer. Mr. Barnard was a member of the Harrison Apartments Tenant‚s Association. He was a past member of the Spirit of Black Rock Ancient Fife and Drum Corps. He loved to converse with people and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed nature and animals. Mr. Barnard is survived by his brother, Jon and his wife, Mary, of Bridgeport; three loving nieces, Maryanne, Melody and Vickie; and several cousins, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mildred Barnard. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday at 11 a.m. in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton, Harvester Road. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Barnard‚s memory to New Samaritan Corporation, 651 State Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
