WILLIAM ALLAN ‘MICK’ CAMERON William “Mick” Cameron, 81, of North Bay, Ont. and formerly of 928 Victoria Ave. N., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999 in North Bay. He was born Dec. 6, 1917 in Fort Frances to the late William and Alice Cameron, and had lived most of his life here. Mick had served as a sergeant with R.C.A.F. during World War II. Following his discharge from the services, he returned to Fort Frances and on July 28, 1945 was united in marriage to the former Minnie “Winnie” Lowe. Mick had worked for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario for many years, and was manager at the time of his retirement. He was a member of Knox United Church, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29, and the Masonic Granite Lodge #446 AF & AM in Fort Frances. He also was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his wife, Minnie, on Dec. 28, 1997; one brother, Raymond Horace Cameron; and one sister, Helen Olson. Mick is survived by his daughter, Lorraine and husband, Max Shapiro, of North Bay, Ont.; three sons, Malcolm and wife, Marta, of Corbeil, Ont., Gordon of Saskatoon, Sask., and Donald of Fort Frances. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Cory, Donny, Tara, Andrea, Jamee, Kathy, Nicole, Chantell, and Jesse; one great-granddaughter, Becca Silvers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 15, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Patrick Playfair will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gordon Cameron, Donald Cameron, Malcolm Cameron, Donny Cameron, Cory Cousineau, Doug Cameron, Jake Tucker, Carl Kocuiba, and Dado Crowe.
