ASHLAND and MILLERSVILLE, Md. - Our brother, Walter James Stevens, passed Nov. 18, 2010, at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Millersville, Md. Walt was born April 12, 1942, in Ashland, Aroostook County, the eldest son of William James and Mona Jenny Colbath-Stevens. A graduate of Ashland Community High School, Class of 1959, he entered the military in 1960 and served in the Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning the rank of staff sergeant. He was a proud employee of National Security Agency, and retired in 2000, after a cumulative service of 39 years. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans Association. He is survived by his wife, Vincenza of Millersville, Md.; a beloved stepson, Jay Filteau; and three grandsons, Jeffrey, Jeremy and Jordan, whom he affectionately referred to as "Tha Trips," all of Bridgewater, Mass.; five sisters, Elaine Wakefield of Portage Lake, Martha Stevens-David of Minot, Helen Stevens of Presque Isle, Shirley Ballard of Mapleton and Norma Meyer of Winthrop; numerous nieces and nephews; and the "Stevens" cousins, Herbert, Joyce and Mary, all of Connecticut. Walt was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Arnold Louis and Lester Jerome. Walt's funeral was Monday, Nov. 22, in Gambrills, Md.
