Walter Edward Francis, 101 years old, of Norwell and Wareham, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 11:09 a.m. to finally meet his wife Frances who passed away 21 years ago. He was born in Pittsfield to the late Robert and Winnifred (Bowers) Francis. At the time of his passing, he was at his daughter Robertas home, surrounded by family who loved and cared for him and were privileged to have had him spend his last 81 days with him on this Earth, which included his last Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years dinners. Walter was the brother of the late Robert Francis. He is survived by his two daughters, Roberta Williams and her husband Louis of Norwell and Joanne Delmonico and her husband Raymond of Hingham. Survived by seven grandchildren, Michele Bradley and her husband Michael of Brockton, Walter Francis Williams and his wife Kathleen of Amesbury, Laurie Colby and her husband Robert of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Kristine Poirier and her husband John of Norwell, Raymond Delmonico and his wife Amanda of Hanover, Matthew Delmonico and his wife Tiffany of New Milford, Conn., and Victoria Delmonico and her husband Christopher Merrill of Norwell. Walter also leaves twenty great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. He was a photo engraver for the Boston Globe and Herald and had been retired for 36 years. He played golf and liked to bowl. He had a great sense of humor and was a very gentle and loving family man. Walter will be missed by everyone who knew him. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, Hanover, on Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Helen Church, 383 Washington St. Rte. 53, Norwell, on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial in Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree.
