THOMSON Wallace Harvey, May 24, 1928 - January 10, 2008, age 79, a resident of North Arlington for 45 years, passed away last Thursday, January 10. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Lucille; his three children, Mary, Richard and Jeffrey, and their families; his sister, Dorothy Caprio; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomson, among other beloved family members. Harvey served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and, after an honorable discharge, he returned to the family business as an experienced wood and metal pattern maker. His grandfather, Alexander Thomson, established the business in 1896 in New York City, moving its final location to the Jersey City waterfront. Harvey subsequently went on to become the president of the company, retiring in 1993. In its history, the business contracted with clients, including General Dynamics, NJ Lottery, QE2, Absolut Vodka, Nabisco, Revlon and Worthington Pump. He also served as the troop leader of the Boy Scouts of America. Harvey loved fishing and boating, and often vacationed on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts and Lake George in New York. His wonderful, dry sense of humor won him many friends who remember him affectionately. Harvey will be greatly missed. Visitation hours will be conducted at Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, NJ on Thursday, January 17, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The family appreciates donations in lieu of flowers be made to the American Heart and Lung Association.
