Hayes, Va. - Virginia Anne Edwards, 84, died Thursday, October 15, 2009. Anne was a graduate of Achilles High School, DePaul Nursing School, St. Louis Anesthesia School and a graduate from University of Georgia with a B.S. degree. She was a Nurse Anesthetist at Mary Immaculate Hospital, Newport News, Va.; Baptist Hospital, Atlanta and was also Assistant Administrator of Athens General Hospital, Athens. She was a member of Severn Church, Naxera for many years. Anne was a fabulous baker and her wonderful homemade desserts were a delight to everyone who received them. She will always be remembered for her gentleness and compassion she showed to others.She was preceded in death by her parents James Preston and Virginia Sterling Edwards.She is survived by her brother Captain Jerry Edwards and wife Anne; sisters Elva Joyce Adamson Fay E. Mull and husband Eugene Kay E. Riley and husband Leonard D.; nieces Sandra Spohn and Linda Anne Adamson and nephew James Michael Adamson.Funeral services officiated by Pastor Leonard D. Riley and Pastor Bill West was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, Va. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.In Anne's memory contributions may be made to Severn Church, 9066 Robins Neck Road, Gloucester, Virginia 23061.
