Thomas Whelan, of Stony Point, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, August 6, 2006. He was 71. Thomas was born June 23, 1935 in the Bronx to Thomas and Jane Whelan. Thomas served his country proudly in the Korean War Conflict in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Hornet. He later worked as Plant Manager for Rockland Psychiatric Center until his recent retirement. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Marie, son Thomas of Sloatsburg, daughters: Kellie of Stony Point, Lynda and her husband Dean Tortorello of Stony Point. Friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4, 7 to 9 pm at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, Garnerville. His Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10 am, in the Chapel of the funeral home, with Rev. Warren Brandt officiating. Burial and Military honors will follow in the F.W.
