BROOKLINE - Thomas P. Dwyer, 52, longtime resident of Brookline, died on Feb. 27, 2014, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by his family. He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on July 4, 1961, a son of Thomas F. Dwyer of Pittsfield and the late Maria (Forte) Dwyer. He was raised and educated in Pittsfield and graduated from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1979. He studied environmental science at Berkshire Community College and later transferred to Westfield State College, graduating with a degree in economics in 1985. Tom had been employed as a customer service representative for Comcast Cable Company. In addition, he owned Millbrook Kennels where he provided domestic and gun dog training. Tom authored three books regarding the breeding and training of German-Shorthaired Pointers. He was a longtime member and former president of Katahdin German Shorthaired Pointer Club and the founder and president of Granite State German Shorthaired Pointer Club. He was very active in his community as a volunteer with the Brookline Fire Department #9 for 18 years, serving on the conservation commission for three years and as the animal control officer for several years. Tom was a member of Benevolent Lodge #7 F & AM, Milford and the Bektash Shriners, Concord. He enjoyed barbecuing, bird hunting, photography, cooking, trains, vacationing in Maine, and most especially spending time with his family. He took great pride in the daylily garden that he and Jane started and added to each year. He particularly enjoyed hosting the annual "Dwyer Family Cookout" on his July 4th birthday. Tom was a loving husband and a devoted father. In addition to his father, family members include his wife of 23 years, Jane E. (Whitcomb) Dwyer of Brookline; three children, LeAnna Dwyer and her fiancé, Ryan Hall, Lyndsey Dwyer and Evan Dwyer, all of Brookline; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Peter Coughlin, Lisa and Mark Tully, all of Pittsfield, Mass.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. . services: Visiting hours are today from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm St., Milford. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Brookline Community Church, 2 Main St., Brookline. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline.
