Avis de décès de Thomas-M. Farrell


Farrell, Thomas M. COEYMANS Thomas M. Farrell passed away peacefully on May 30, 2012. Tom was born on August 3, 1939 in Medina, N.Y. to Christopher and Bernice Farrell. His beloved bride of 47 years, Sarah (Sally) preceded him in death and he joins her in eternal rest. Tom moved to Ravena as a teenager and attended Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School. He began his career as a heavy equipment operator at Atlantic Cement, now known as LaFarge. In 1989, he left his position to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning and driving a long distance "big rig." Although he retained his membership in Local 106 Operating Engineers, he loved being on the open road. Tom was a dedicated volunteer firefighter, a group that works every day to keep small communities safe and protected. First he served with the Middleport Fire Company and, until his death, with the Coeymans Volunteer Fire Company. Tom was past president and chief of Coeymans, was on the Albany County Fire Advisory Board and also a member of the Albany County Volunteer Fireman's Association. Tom's first love was his family. He was the devoted father of Sharon Northrup and Kimberly Salamida. Adored "Binky" to his grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Northrup and Francesca and Thomas Salamida. He is also survived by his brothers, Christopher (Roberta), his twin, William (Gail) and Patrick (Frances); and sisters, Kathryn Farrell and Marcia Wetmore. Tom was brother-in- law to Thomas (Lois) and Anthony (Linda Lee) Williams, Frances (Robert) Isaacs and Rose (James) Dolan. Tom leaves aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who will miss his delightful sense of humor and kind heart. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Tom in a special way may make a donation in his name to the Coeymans Fire Company or St. Patrick's Church.
