Thomas "Tennie" Carmel TerryDecaturThomas Carmel Terry, 88, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2010, following a brief illness after surgery.He was born May 13, 1922, the youngest and last surviving child of seven children born to Tiller Terry and the former Ella Kimbrell, of Trinity, where he also grew up. He attended Trinity High School and later went on to serve as a medic overseas during World War II. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved to make everyone around him laugh with his stories and antics.He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Deria Marbut Terry; two daughters, Janice Gail Terry of Dallas, Texas, and Betty Kay Watson and her husband, Jim, of Loganville, Ga.; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bessie Bolton, Mozelle Makemson, and Clezzell Bibb; and three brothers, Clarence "Shady" Terry, Fermin Terry and Rayburn "Buster" Terry.Funeral services will be at Roselawn Memorial Funeral Home, Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Jackie Kay officiating and remarks by the Rev. Dannie Reed, Loganville, Ga. The family will receive visitors prior to the services from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request donations be made to Central Park Baptist Church, Decatur.
