OBITUARY THERESE BELANGER GAUTHIER (nee GODIN) 1917-2007 Peacefully at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the age of ninety-years, passed away Mrs. Therese Belanger Gauthier. She was the first wife of the late Edgar Belanger and second wife of the late Alfred E. Gauthier. She lived for 22 years in the Olympic Village and prior to that, in the Paroisse Notre-Dame-des-Champs in Repentigny for 27 years. She leaves to mourn her five children: Louise Belanger (the late Claude Harvey), Jacques Belanger, Marie Gauthier (Alain Desautels), Dr. Robert Belanger (Marie-Josee Guertin) and Johanne Gauthier, her nine grandchildren Paul, Marie-Claude and Sebastien Harvey, Sophie, Julie and Anne-Marie Desautels, Martin, Marie-Christine and Marie-Pier Belanger, their spouses as well as 7 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her 3 sisters-in-law: Ida Gauthier (the late Lair Paton Sr.), Lucille Tremblay (the late Roland Belanger) and Fernande David (the late Marcel Belanger C.R.) as well as many relatives and friends. She devoted thirty compassionate years to patients near death, twenty-six years of which were at the Palliative Care Unit at the Notre-Dame de CHUM Hospital. With her alleviating presence and infinite respect, she helped, comforted, and guided patients with terminal illnesses. Her contributions were also recognized by the Govenor General, who awarded her the "Prix de l'Entraide du Canada". The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, October 2 and Wednesday, October 3 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. and on Thursday, October 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at: Complexe Funeraire Magnus Poirier Inc., 6825 Sherbrooke St. East Montreal, (514) 727-2847 Funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 4 at 1 p.m. at the Eglise de l'Immaculee Conception, 4201 rue Papineau, corner Rachel. Burial will follow at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
