PATERSON , Stuart September 17, 1942 - April 24, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stuart George Paterson at the Foothills Hospital on April 24, 2009 at the age of 66 years. Stuart is survived by Gayle Pederson, the mother of his three children; Angela Paterson of Vancouver, WA, Lindsey (Sandy) Paterson of Pincher Creek, AB and Erin Paterson (Chris Adams) of Medicine Hat, AB. He is also survived by his sister Kim Paterson (Keith Shaw) of Airdrie, AB and his beloved Aunt Anne "Nan" Stuffco of Calgary, AB. Stu was predeceased by his father George and his mother Margaret "Muggs" Paterson. Stu was born on September 17, 1942 in Calgary, AB, where he attended St. Mary's High School and served altar service with Sacred Heart Catholic Church as a young boy. The brief time he left Calgary was to attend formal education at Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Missouri. While still in high school, Stu was employed by Starrs Ambulance service and later by Associated Ambulance. Stu then became a principal founder of Universal Ambulance. He often worked nights driving ambulance and days at his chiropractic practice until 1971 when the city took over ambulance services. Stu operated his chiropractic practice for forty-four years up until his passing. During this time he served his profession in various capacities. He was past president of the Calgary Chiropractic Society and served on Council and the Examination Board of the Provincial Chiropractic Association. Throughout his career, Stu served an abundance of patients and developed many lifelong relationships and friendships. Friends are invited to join the family for a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Stuart's life at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 - 14 Street S.W., Calgary) on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held immediately following at the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, No. 204, 2323 - 32 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3.
