STELLA JEAN HALCRO Stella Jean Halcro was born Feb. 27, 1941 in Barwick, Ont. to Gar and Mabel Abbott. Jean (as she preferred to be called) passed away early in the morning of Thursday, June 16, 2005 in her home in St. Louis, Sask. Jean worked for Saskatchewan Mental Health as a private homecare worker for nine-and-a-half years until she retired earlier this year. Jean also volunteered for numerous organizations over the years that she lived in Prince Albert, Sask. Jean is survived by her children, Nick (Crystal) Irwin of Hay River, N.W.T., Keith Irwin of Winnipeg, Man., Lorri (Garry) Ewart of Regina, Sask., and Shirley Irwin of St. Anne’s, Man.; mother, Mabel Abbott of Rainy River, Ont.; two sisters, Jennette Cross and Linda (Bob) Johnston of Rainy River, Ont.; brother, Don Abbott of Logan Lake, B.C.; her special friend, Russell Lepine of St. Louis, Sask.; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Jean was predeceased by her father, Gar Abbott; brother, Cecil Abbott; daughter, Jeannie Halcro; and grandson, Donovan Halcro. A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. at St. Albans Cathedral in Prince Albert. A family interment will be held at a later date. In memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Gray’s Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
