Alan Johnson, Sr. May 18, 1944 - September 14, 2013 Sterling - Alan L. Johnson, Sr. 69, of Valley View Rd. beloved husband of Beverly (French) Johnson passed away Saturday evening at Regency Heights in Danielson. He was born May 18, 1944 in Franklin a son of the late Lyle and Ruth (Hansen) Johnson and had lived in Sterling for the past 27 years. Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having received two Purple Hearts. He was employed by the State of Connecticut, Division of Special Revenue for ten years and was also a cabinetmaker. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Jay Frechette of Sterling, Stephen Frechette of Norwich, Alan L. Johnson, Jr. of Plainfield; eight daughters Brenda Farnham of FL, Deborah McGarry of Sterling, Kathleen Tetreault of Plainfield, Cynthia Matteau of Plainfield, Sheila Dowsland of NY, Patsy Frechette of FL, Shari Walker of MD, Amy Terre of Plainfieldl one sister Phyllis Bruce of TN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Paul Frechette. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home 595 Norwich Rd. Plainfield.
