Sister Dolores Hanlon, CND Wilton, CTSr. Dolores Hanlon, CND, known in religion as Sr. St. Dolores Marie, died at Lourdes Health Care Center in Wilton, CT on March 7, 2012 at the age of 84. She was born on August 18, 1926 in Bayonne, NJ, to the late Mary (Otto) and Robert Hanlon. All her school age years were spent in Bayonne. She received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Notre Dame College on Staten Island, and her master's degree in chemistry from Fordham University. Sr. Dolores pronounced her first vows as a sister of the Congregation de Notre Dame in Montreal, Canada on August 22, 1950. Sister taught chemistry and other sciences in Catholic schools in Connecticut, Vermont, Texas, Staten Island the Bronx, and Notre Dame H.S. in Schenectady, NY. She served in an outreach program in the Albany diocese and in pastoral ministry at St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Schenectady. In 1995, Sr. Dolores moved to Rhode Island where she visited the sick and elderly. In 2004, Sister retired to the Andrus Retirement Community and then to St. Jean's Residence in New York City. Sr. Dolores had a deep love for gardening, the ocean, and all of the natural world. She had a compassionate heart which embraced her family, her CND community, her many dear friends, and all those who were part of her 61 years in ministry. Sr. Dolores is survived by her brother, Robert in Denver, CO; her sister-in-law, Marie Hanlon; and her nieces and nephews and their families and mourned by her lifelong friends in the Congregation of Notre Dame. Friends may call at Villa Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Rd. in Wilton, CT on Friday, March 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 10, at 10 a.m. at Villa Notre Dame, Wilton, CT.
