Ruth L. Thomasformerly of BinghamtonRuth L. Thomas, formerly of Binghamton, passed away April 7, 2005 at the Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead, N.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Harris W. Thomas; and brother, Howard Tagg. Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Terry Weeks, Sneads Ferry, N.C.; her grandchildren, Craig and Lindsay Polhamus, Yuma, Ariz., and Julie and Christopher Putz, Cartersville, Ga.; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Putz, Kylee Polhamus, and Rylee Putz; also many other extended family members and friends. Ruth was a longtime member of the Ogden-Hillcrest United Methodist Church, where she was very involved with many church activities and functions. She was involved with the Children's Home of Wyoming Conference, she delivered Meals on Wheels, and she was a member of the Port Dickinson Senior Citizens' Group.Funeral services will be held from the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Horace King officiating. Interment will take place in Chenango Valley Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Those wishing kindly consider memorial contributions in Ruth's name to the Ogden-Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 1061 Chenango St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901, to be directed for the Hand Bell Choir.
