Ronald "Rannie" Joseph O'Neill June 03, 1940 - February 13, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) O'NEILL, Ronald Joseph "Rannie" - 64, Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2005. A native of Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Retired Sergeant Ronald Joseph O'Neill came to the Halifax Police Force on September 3, 1968. Having previously worked from age 16 to 18 years in the No. 26 Colliery. This was followed by six years in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Armoured Corps., two years of which were spent in Germany. After leaving the army, Ron spent two years in Kingston, Ont., with the Dupont Nylon Company. Following retirement from the Halifax Police Force in March of 1997, Ron began work with the Justice Department of Nova Scotia until June of 2000. After a retirement of one and half years, he joined the Halifax International Airport Corps of Commissionaires in February 2002, until his illness in June 2003. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean (Morrison); children, Eric and Rhonda; granddaughter, Shana; brother, John; nieces and nephews, Evangeline, Paula, Catherine, John, Mark and Greg. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Evangeline (Pierce), and younger brother, Paul. Visitation will be from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in St. Elizabeth Seton Roman Catholic Church, Metropolitan Avenue. Private family burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens.
