Ronald Barnett 1924-2015 The death of Ronald Alexander Barnett of Fredericton, NB, occurred at Oromocto Public Hospital on May 18, 2015. He was born in Yarmouth, NS, in 1924, the son of the late Harry A. Barnett (b. Hillsborough, NB) and Maude V. (Winters) Barnett (Lower Rose Bay, NS). Ronald was a graduate of Dalhousie University and the Nova Scotia Technical College in engineering. In 1948 he married Lenore G.M. Shields of Halifax, NS. Ronald is survived by his cherished wife and best friend, Lenore; their loving children, Donald of Fredericton NB, Linda of St. John’s, NL, and Bruce (Patricia Bell) of Geneva, Switzerland; and by his sister, Eileen VanZoost of Yarmouth NS. His brother, Tremaine, died as a child. Ronald was employed by CIL at Brownsburg and Valleyfield in Quebec and by The Montreal Gazette and The Hamilton Spectator newspapers. His interests were many and varied, and he never lost a love of new challenges. An enthusiastic pilot, he flew his small aircraft "JFF" for over thirty years. At his request there will be no visitation or funeral, but rather a private graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
