Robert R. "Bob" Nickerson of Chenango Forks Bob Nickerson, age 67, died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 12, 2009, surrounded by his loving family after a year-long battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter R. and Ruth (Sullivan) Nickerson; also three brothers; and his former wife, Marcia L. Nickerson. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Karen, at home; his children, Brett and Lisa Nickerson, Brenda and Michael Kelly, Sue and Shawn Dean, Kathleen Engleman, Tara Nickerson and Troy Nickerson; his sisters, Marge and John Patak, FL, Shirley and Allan Johnson, Port Crane; his grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Nickerson, Krista, Coleen, Erin and Kyle Kelly, Shawn Jr., and Sierra Dean, Michelle, Derek and Katelyn Engleman; many nieces and nephews; also canine companions, Rex and Gizmo. Bob was a former member of St. Rita's Church. He was a retiree of HSBC after many years of service and the former owner of Nickerson's Auto Sales. Bob was the Vice President of the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club and a former officer with USA Wrestling where he was a Bronze Certified Coach. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time hiking and enjoyed many other activities at his home and on his property. Family was his number one concern even until the last few moments of his life. Bob will be dearly missed by many. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Paul's Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson.
