NEWTON--Robert L., age 87 of Pompton Plains, NJ died peacefully on Christmas Day, 2014. Bob resided in Wayne, NJ for forty years before moving to Pompton Plains, NJ in 1996. A graduate of the University of Syracuse, he earned his Masters degree in Chemistry from Cornell University. He began his career on Wall Street with Clark Dodge & Co. After ten years with Clark Dodge, Bob joined F. Eberstadt & Co. retiring as Senior Vice President. His career was marked by much success, yet Bob would tell you that his greatest achievements were the friendships he developed all along the way. He was a humble man, selfless to a fault, and very generous. Bob is survived by his wife Alma, his children; Peg Patten and her husband Chris, Russ Newton and his wife Kimberly, and Audrey Newton, Almas children; Forrest DeVisser and his wife Jamie, and Garret DeVisser and his wife Maritta, five grandchildren; Jacob, Sami and Robert Newton and Alyssa and Olivia DeVisser, sister-in- law; Dahlia Newton and her children; Jessica Orvis and Roy Newton. Friends may visit with the family at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne, NJ on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will follow at 1pm on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bobs memory would be greatly appreciated to the NY-NJ Trail Conference or to Spence-Chapin Adoption Services.
