Robert Ferri ("Bob") was born in Tuckahoe, NY on April 1, 1927. He attended Eastchester High School, where he was the school's star athlete that won him a full Football Scholarship to Syracuse University. Bob left Syracuse in 1946 to join his mother and brother in a local family owned grocery store known as Central Market, which they operated for 35 years. There he met his wife, had five children, and was instrumental in making sure all five attended college and obtained full degrees. Bob played semi-professional football for 17 years and was invited to join the pro football team, Detroit Lions. He was President, Chairman, and Member of the many Commissions and Citizens Clubs in both Tuckahoe and Eastchester, NY. He was also a Board member of Bahama Bend in Coconut Creek, FL, where he resided for the last 15 years . After he and his wife divorced in 1979, Bob was blessed to have met Florence Torreggiani, his long time love of almost 30 years. Florence and her four daughters embraced Bob and he became an important part of their family. Bob is survived by his son, three daughters and one son-in-law, Florence, her four daughters and two son-in-laws, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 14th from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Westchester Funeral Home on 190 Main Street, Tuckahoe, NY. The mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the burial to follow at Holy Mount Cemetery.
