Avis de décès de Robert-F. Patten

Robert F. Patten, 70 WESTBROOK -- Robert F. Patten, 70, of Westbrook, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Naugatuck, Conn., on April 26, 1941. He attended Wilby High School in Waterbury where he met his high school sweetheart, Arline. They married in 1959 and moved to Maine where they worked in many Dairy Queens until they bought the Dairy Queen in Westbrook in 1968. He owned and operated the Dairy Queen for over 30 years, and over those years touched the lives of hundreds of Westbrook's youth giving many their first job. Upon retirement, he and Arline traveled extensively and ultimately spent their winters in North Port, Fla. In North Port, he realized his lifelong dream of having a shop and gathering place called Vintage Cars of North Port with his friend Skip Mucci. This shop became a weekly gathering place of antique car enthusiasts like himself. The Wednesday morning coffee hour attracted dozens of people each week. Bob was often heard saying this is not a club; there are no rules. Everyone is welcome; we just gather to share our passion for cars. His favorite cars were the Fords and Mercurys of the 1950s. He always amazed people with his knowledge of antique cars by immediately identifying the year, make and model by seeing even the smallest part. He was a member of the All Ford V8 Club; he raced stock cars at Beech Ridge Speedway, raced snow mobiles throughout Maine and was an avid trail rider. He owned and flew a single engine Cessna aircraft and belonged to the Bald Eagle Flying Club in Portland. Bob was also a member of the Saccarappa Masonic Temple in Westbrook, and was past master in 1980. Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Arline; his sons, Robert Patten Jr. of Windham, John Patten of East Brookfield, Mass., David Patten and his wife Marie of Limington, his daughter, Kelley Patten of North Port, Fla.; his step-mother, Mary Lou Patten of South Portland; his sister, Susan Stango of Cheshire, Conn.; his step-sister Angie Foster of South Portland; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Patten of Cheshire, Conn., and Frank Patten of South Portland. He will be forever remembered by the many friends he made throughout the country and Canada. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all his caregivers, family and friends and especially Lisa and Shannon of Beacon Hospice. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the American ;(function() { var adKeyValue = 't='; adKeyValue+= escape('clio=ACS'); adKeyValue += escape('&cobrand=mainetoday-pressherald'); adKeyValue += escape('&linktext=Cancer Society'); adKeyValue += escape('&linkurl=https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/donateonlinenow/Legacy/index?dn=mem&fn=Robert&ln=Patten'); adKeyValue += escape('&fn=Robert'); adKeyValue += escape('&ln=Patten'); var adClkUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/jump?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=1310305380'; var adImpUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ad?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=1310305380'; document.write("<a href='" + adClkUrl + "' target=_blank>Cancer Society<" + 'img' + " src='" + adImpUrl + "' style='width=1px; height=1px; display:inline;' /></a>"); }()); or the Lighthouse Foundation at www.tlhospicefoundation.org or by calling (617)242-7402.
